Founded in 2004, the Wessex Centre for History and Archaeology (WCHA) encourages and co-ordinates research within the Wessex region (defined as the historic counties of Dorset, Hampshire, and Wiltshire).
The WCHA develops the University of Winchester’s longstanding involvement in regional and local archaeology and history and Southampton University’s former Wessex Medieval Centre.
The Wessex Centre for History and Archaeology runs course’s in association with the University’s MA programme in History. Elementary and Advanced Latin and Palaeography courses are available. There are also BA Programmes (full- and part-time) in Archaeology, Archaeological Practice, History, History and the Medieval World and History and the Modern World and supervision to MPhil/PhD degrees.
